5 Aces offers a custom solution for the auto collision industry encompassing data integration, warehousing, and reporting. The integration component processes data feeds from APIs provided by consolidators like CCCONE and financial management systems like Sage Intacct and puts it in persistent staging area (PSA) databases in Azure SQL and Azure SQL VM. ETL pipelines process PSA data and load it into an Azure SQL data warehouse. A semantic layer can be implemented, combining warehoused and master data to provide customer-specific datasets for analysis and Power BI reporting.Responsibilities:• Analyzed XML data sources and maintained XML to PSA (Persistent Staging Area) mapping documents.• Created complex queries on XML columns to validate landed data against raw XML, enabling efficient QA.• Provisioned, configured, and maintained Azure SQL elastic pools and databases.• Managed database access in Azure SQL and Microsoft Entra.• Helped design the data warehouse and optimize ETL by leveraging Azure Data Factory and stored procedures.• Coded stored procedures for extracting, transforming, and loading dimensions/facts.• Created, modified, and troubleshot SQL Agent and Azure Data Factory jobs.• Troubleshot slow-performing queries, analyzed execution plans, identified bottlenecks, and enhanced performance by implementing table indexes and making recommendations for better performing queries.• Performed database backups and restores across servers and Azure tenants.• Helped to enable Transparent Data Encryption (TDE) and Always Encrypted on an Azure SQL VM instance.• Trained and oversaw the work of a junior DBA.• Conducted demos of the overall database architecture and data warehouse to 5 Aces’ clients.• Leveraged AI engines like Copilot and Claude to quickly generate SQL code.
