Work principally orientated towards supporting the devising & implementation of projects & procedures, and planning & consulting on routing solutions, relating to the transportation of time-critical & life-saving shipments - across a variety of methods of transport, primarily via air, and for a variety of new & established clients.

Year-long industrial placement within DHL Aviation‘s EMA-based Customs Department between the second and third years of university study, working initially as a UK Import Agent and gaining experience with HMRC import procedures and documentation, and latterly on projects to improve departmental KPIs, boost operational efficiency and deliver the company’s exceptionally high quality of customer service. Self-managed a project to develop a comprehensive Excel-based interface to expedite customs clearances, with extensive experience of Excel and VBA functionalities gained as a result. Developed and applied initiative, communication, customer service, regulatory compliance and project management skills, along with a firm foundation of tangible and specialised experience of customs processes and wider express parcel operations (visiting both London Heathrow and Leipzig hubs).

Integral back-of-house team member at a successful restaurant and hotel, working both as a kitchen porter (basic food preparation, washing equipment, cleaning kitchens) and general assistant & handyman to other areas (gardening, grounds maintenance, stock changing). Regarded as a reliable, competent and diligent colleague, often returning to work around university schedule and frequently transcending the role’s basic requirements in supporting the wider operation when appropriate. Key skills developed include diligence, time management, initiative, teamwork and customer service.
