Rhanee Lester Email and Phone Number
Rhanee Lester is an Adnyamathanha woman with close family and community ties to Port Augusta and the Northern Flinders Ranges in South Australia. Being born in Adelaide Rhanee grew up and spent the majority of her childhood in Port Augusta, with frequent family camping trips back to country on Adnyamathanha yarta. This gave her access to both Adnyamathanha and western knowledge and history creating a passion for learning her Adnyamathanha culture and language. She loves learning and values the importance of having access to a high-level education both from Adnyamathanha and Western perspectives and enjoys sharing her knowledge through storytelling, yarning circles, creativity and spirituality. She believes it is as vitally and equally as important for her health and wellbeing to know her Adnyamathanha heritage, language and culture as well as good knowledge of western systems. Rhanee’s current role as a Patient Navigator for Renal across the Port Augusta & Royal Adelaide Hospitals is funded through the COMPASS research project (link in bio). She brings a wealth of knowledge to her role using her lived experience as a storytelling tool to engage meaningfully with people from all walks of life. Rhanee hopes that by sharing her story with others it encourages and inspires them to love and care for themselves through their own journeys.Rhanee is also a published children’s author with her first co-authored and -illustrated book alongside Author and Artist Anne Kerr being published in 2018. Their book ‘Walking to Corroboree’ has become an important tool for Rhanee's roles as an Indigenous Storyteller, Cultural Educator, Writer, and Artist and has become a tool for engaging with schools and their students when discussing and exploring the true history of Australia.
