Adjunct InstructorEastern Florida State College Sep 2010 - May 2011Cocoa, Fl, UsDuring my employment, the college was Brevard Community College. In Fall 2010 I was given the opportunity to take over a COM 1 (Communications) section at the Palm Bay campus. Later in the semester, I was asked to take over two COM 2 sections. While challenging, this was an amazing opportunity for me. I learned an enormous amount about myself as a teacher and as a person. I was able to help bring focus to the students in the midst of uncertainty; the shift in instructors required an adjustment from everyone. My first teaching experience was thus a true collaboration between my supervisors, the students, the college staff, the previous instructor, and myself. I am so grateful that I was given the opportunity to learn so much while also teaching. In Spring 2011 I taught three sections of COM 2 while also working in the campus library. This was yet another instance of overlap between multiple parts of the college. I was so lucky to see so much of how the college operated; I was able to pass on these various perspectives to my students. -
