Hello, I'm Rhed! An undergraduate student who fell in love with research as early as high school. Ever since, I have grown passionate about focusing on research that promotes sustainability and accessibility. I have actively sought opportunities to practice this goal. I recently got the opportunity to be a Research Intern at Unsilo Labs whose ultimate goal is to bring science closer to the scientist through projects that make practicing science more affordable. Currently, I am a Research Intern at UP Diliman under the research team of Professor Peter Sy, the Future Waves Collective, whose initiatives include addressing the digital divide. But before I got these amazing opportunities, I started advocating for sustainability and accessibility through my research works at Rizal National Science High School. I got to team up with amazing colleagues on developing a sustainable fabric from the leaves of Snakeplant and Pandan as well as building an efficient fog harvester using easily accessible materials. Through these, I was fortunate to have joined competitions and conferences to share my work. Ultimately, contributing to the community motivates my pursuit of science. Now that I'm doing my first undergraduate thesis--rest assured that sustainability and accessibility are kept in mind. Under the supervision of Dr. Joel Maquiling of the Ateneo Geophysics Laboratory, I'm eagerly anticipating what's next!
