This role has enabled me to work with children aged 4-8 year olds. I have been able to work closely with a team of teachers to effectively implement England’s National Curriculum. I have had to guide and teach the Montessori guides, at the school, how to effectively cover, plan and teach the National Curriculum. This has been a really positive experience and helped me to build strong communication skills with other adults and parents. It has also provided me with the opportunity to work using Montessori methods and materials that has allowed me to develop understanding of how England’s National Curriculum can be used in a creative, flexible way. Finally, this experience has allowed me to develop methods and strategies to support EAL learners.
  • Hawes Side Academy
    Classroom Teacher
Hawes Side Academy Aug 2018 - Aug 2019
    Blackpool, United Kingdom
During my time at Hawes Side I have had the responsibility of teaching a Year 3 class (7-8 year olds) in all subjects on the English National Curriculum. The class is very diverse with 8 children on the SEN register. These needs included behaviour, speech and language, sight impairment, hearing impairment, learning disabilities, cognitive delays, and children with social and emotional needs. This has led me to become a strong teacher, with high motivation and dedication to providing an accessible learning environment for these children. This has meant a child-centered learning environment has been developed in my classroom to cater for the diverse and individual needs of the children. Over the year, I have also had to: use assessment effectively to ensure progression; reflect on lessons and my practice; undertaken teacher-led research, taken part in training and parent meetings.
