•Independently developed a new mechanical test method for an innovative Class III implantable medical device, designed to simulate how the device would behave in a clinical setting.• Designed and executed a 7 factor study to characterize test method parameters and identify sources of variability in the test method and in the device.• Implemented data analytics techniques to analyze test results, demonstrating a 26% difference in mechanical strength attributed to the test method rate.• Assisted in the execution of a Design of Experiments (DOE) regarding a manufacturing process improvement, resulting in determination of specific process parameters to optimize device performance.
