About Rhiannon Maxwell

I have worked with two companies since 2011. One for almost 10 years and my current role with AWN Consulting Ltd. My several years with McDowells gave me a strong sense of responsibility for the task at hand, an efficient ability for multitasking, a honed detail-orientated approach and strong business acumen. My role in AWN has developed those skills and also allowed me to experience a more challenging role in a much larger, more corporate setting. In both roles I started with a single responsibility and worked my way up the company. I loved my job at McDowells, but the decision to relocate to Dublin seen me search for something more challenging with more career progression, and so I found myself at AWN.I have always found myself willing and wanting to develop myself on a personal and professional level. In 2016 and 2017 I developed my love for fitness and attained qualifications in the fitness industry. I then put in part time hours at my local gym, on top of my job at McDowell’s. Being a fitness instructor and self-employed Personal Trainer taught me an array of transferable skills that I have been able to carry with me, including communication, work ethic, organisation and adaptability. My more recent years seen me engage in extensive volunteer work with my local rugby club. I took up a position on the Executive Committee as Chair of Fundraising, planning events and activities to generate a source of income for the club. I then spent two seasons as Club Treasurer managing all incoming and outgoing payments and assisting in tracking club finances and generating cash flow for financial planning. These roles, among other tasks undertaken during my time at Lisburn RFC, have allowed me to develop my existing skills and gain leadership experience, project management skills and value the importance of teamwork.I enjoy finding new ways to grow, be it on a professional level or my own personal skills and I thrive on being challenged. I recently started a family which may be the most challenging thing I have done to date. Being a working mother has taught me how to balance many plates at once. I have learned how to have time for my family while also achieving results professionally. I thoroughly enjoy working for a growing company that will not hold back on making use of my extensive skillset, confident nature and a dynamic professional drive.

In June 2023 I was promoted to Operations Manager. This is a new role in AWN and I am currently developing my responsibilities and working alongside our Managing Director and Office Manager to carve out my role within the team. As of October 2023, I am now head of Credit control, supervising our credit control team and debtor information management. It is my responsibility to ensure an efficient service for both internal teams and external clients. I am part of a two-person management team leading efforts to prepare the office for ISO audits, ensuring company-wide compliance with relevant standards and regulations and collaborating with various teams to maintain accurate documentation and evidence, resulting in successful ISO certifications.I have completed a qualification to become AWN’s Health and Safety Officer, which will allow me to determine ways of reducing risks, provide health and safety training courses for employees and managers. draw up operational procedures and write internal health and safety policies/strategies to ensure a safe a secure work environment for all employees. I also qualified as a QQI Manual Handling Instructor in October 2023 and will carry out all internal manual handling training tailored to AWNs needs.I have been developing and enforcing HR policies and procedures, improving our internal systems, ensuring compliance with employment laws and fostering a positive work culture. I lead the administrative recruitment process, liaising with our internal teams to gather information to correctly advertise positions. I have continued to provide HR induction and support to all new employees.
