Good communication with guests and colleagues was important, as well as coping with working in a large team in a relatively small space. This was a highly interactive and fast-paced environment, and I enjoyed my development and improved my Dutch.

Calling consumers and businesses and encouraging them to participate in market research. It takes effort and persuasive language to find participants willing to help, and highlighting the benefits of the studies is very important.

This work entails caring for 2 young children - one with special needs and learning difficulties. I have developed skills in care and housework, cleaning duties, and all aspects of running a family home. I also keep busy with washing, ironing and general maintenance. This role gives me the opportunity to learn Dutch and live in a new lifestyle, so I've had to be highly adaptable and flexible, with a caring and patient attitude.

This position including making and amending appointments for patients, talking with them prior to their consultation, taking pre-screening tests, and handing them over to the optician. In addition to showing customer care, we had sales targets to meet, and much to the delight of my manager, I proved to be a successful salesperson, and she constantly received good comments about my service, either by word of mouth or by the surveys which were completed online by our customers. In accordance with the way I handled our patients, I was made Customer Carer, and asked to give tips and reminders to my much more experiences colleagues - some had been working for 10 years - and asked to monitor the Customer Care reviews. My work areas ranged from recruitment, advertising, contracts and HR procedures, medicals and doctor assistant work, secretarial duties for the Head of Services, mobile insurance and payroll duties, and many other roles.I became fully competent in IT work, including using programs such as Oracle, SQL Developer, Microsoft Office, and implemented daily use of our intranet and recruitment websites, including the handling of and developing our own "back office" of Monster and MyJobScotland.I was very customer focused and received commendation for my awareness of colleagues and applicants, or any others who I came into contact with. I thoroughly enjoyed the Recruitment aspects, from starting to advertise a position and then handling the applicants, building up to interview level and organising the locations, communicating with managers and keeping the candidates informed, requesting references and eventually appointing the successful candidate. My work continued afterwards as I sorted out contract and payroll details, and then even some weeks after, when they were in the position, would I hear feedback and be available for other queries. All of our positions had to be within the Recruitment Standards and Timeline as set our for the Council.What I really was enthusiastic about was when I received projects to develop the website, or when I was asked to modify documents for ease of access and to keep in line with our Conditions of Service.
