As chief executive, led the organization through multiple strategic plans and a 4x increase in annual revenue. Transformed BPI into an international leader in the bioeconomy with a highly successful certification program used by over 500 companies, building out committees and programs for cross-functional collaboration, and establishing high-functioning teams and departments from scratch. Guided local, state and federal policies on zero waste including expert testimony at a US Senate EPW committee. Developed and executed complex plans such as BPI’s world leadership on eliminating PFAS in compostable packaging.

Responsible for all N. American market development activities for leading biopolymer manufacturer, including budgets for ads, pilot projects, conferences, trade associations, and lobbying. Product development and environmental compliance for compostable products, including representing Novamont on the Board of Directors for Biodegradable Products Institute (BPI), US Composting Council (USCC), and One Step Closer (OSC).

Contract with GreenBlue (Sustainable Packaging Coalition) to design, conduct and analyze survey about composting as an effective end-of-life option for packaging and other products. Wrote final report and presented results.Contract with Novamont headquarters (Italy) to develop presence in N. America; conducted marketresearch on food waste composting in the U.S., developed residential pilot projects, and helped produce a U.S. website.

Researched and wrote over 30 feature-length articles on composting, renewable energy and sustainable business, including national surveys on residential food scraps programs. Copyedited technical articles and managed freelance writers. Assisted with magazine outreach and development. Helped with organizing conferences, coordinating speakers and moderating presentations.

Managed a busy independent store, voted San Francisco's best video store of 2007 by SF Weekly (while I was manager). In charge of opening/closing, scheduling, banking, customer service, and managing inventory.

Worked closely with the Managing Editor of The Believer, a literary magazine. Fact-checked and proofread non-fiction, rated fiction submissions, wrote blurbs.

Paid internship. Edited text and fact-checked citations for upcoming publications. Researched lawsuits involving farmers and Monsanto. Administrative duties, including correspondence and data entry.

Seasonal contract at Haleakala National Park. Responsible for general maintenance tasks ranging from stone wall construction and historic water tank restoration, to painting and roofing.

Researched, wrote, and taught lessen plans dealing with inner-city health and lifestyle issues, age 7-12. Planned daily schedules and meals to involve time in organic garden. Led staff meetings and trained college and high school students to be counselors.
