Our focus is on the development and support of products built from the compilation and analysis of real estate property data and related data sources.

• Led the development of a centrally-managed Web-based system and database to evaluate and control the electric energy used by HVAC units, and lighting, at 3500 sites for a major U.S. bank.• Oversaw the creation of a browser-based application targeting smart phones, capable of also working offline, for a commercial building maintenance organization to help the organization improve client support with better service call information. • Accomplished the completion of a smart phone, browser-based application utilizing HTML5 local storage to be used by field technicians to analyze the performance of HVAC systems.• Managed the development of a Web-based administration system for technicians servicing air conditioners.• Coordinated the design, development and manufacture of hardware for a real-time HVAC monitoring system. The most recent handheld applications for smart phones were browser-based, built using Java and JavaScript, and in one case HTML5 local storage. Web projects used ColdFusion and Flash for one Web interface, Java with Web services for a second Web interface, and Web2Py for a third interface, in all cases communicating with a Microsoft SQL Server database.

Projects primarily focused on creating or improving applications (including wireless) for handheld computers and PDAs used by field workers (utility workers, sales route applications, quality control). Software development projects included the use of C and the PenRight MobileBuilder software tool, Visual Basic and Embedded Visual Basic (and VB.Net), MS Access, Broadbeam middleware for wide-area wireless communications, and Report CE. Operating systems included Windows CE / HPC 2000 / Pocket PC, the Palm OS, DOS, and desktop and server versions of Windows. Platforms included tablets, PDAs, scanners and early smart phones (combination PDA/cell phones).

Managed the development effort for a number of pen computer applications and related projects, including:• Pen-based system for supermarket quality inspectors.• Handheld scanning system for tracking gas cylinders.• Various handheld pen computer applications for the utility industry. The typical project consisted of an administration program (using Visual Basic, MS Access or some other relational database, and SQL) and a handheld program (using either Visual Basic, VBCE, or C and PenRight), and various communications methods (e.g., local wired network, local wireless network, or dial-up network).

• Awarded three grants under the Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) program. Under Phase I and Phase II SBIR grants from the U.S. Department of Education, I initiated and directed the development of a pen-based system to teach students how to correctly write Japanese Kanji characters, using an expert system approach. Under a Phase I SBIR contract from the National Cancer Institute, I led the development of the user interface for a handheld pen computer to access cancer databases via local area wireless between the pen computer and a network host. • For the U.S. Army Armament Research, Development and Engineering Center in New Jersey, I managed the creation of an expert-system (Nexpert) application on Sun workstations, led the development of a system to digitize aperture cards using image enhancement, and studied the feasibility of upgrading a real-time (30 frames per second) 3D graphics subsystem used in military tank simulators.

• Led the effort to develop a new product – a software package for easily scripting audiotex applications, written in C for a Unix machine – and assisted in the business planning, marketing and sales efforts for the system. • Directed the creation of prototype systems for automated operator assistance within the telephone industry.• Managed the conversion of retrieval software from MACRO 11 to C on a DEC MicroVAX, and supervised ongoing support for the Information Line, a joint venture with United Telecommunications. • In a previous position as director of operations and planning for the Voltex group, I assisted in the creation of a videotex kiosk, managed a production staff creating videotex applications, and researched various information technology topics.

Supervised assistant operations managers in New York and Los Angeles, provided technical support for the teletext production staffs in New York, New Orleans and Los Angeles, introduced new teletext capabilities in cooperation with NBC Engineering, and participated in business planning.

Maintained a prototype videodisc-videotex system based on an Atari 800 microcomputer and both Sony and Pioneer laser videodisc players. Participated in planning the creation of a videobase/database that was to be installed at cable television headends, and wrote portions of the functional specifications for the proposed database structure, data management software, and home terminal design.

Oversaw the installation of a Logica teletext system at Taft Broadcasting in Cincinnati, represented Logica's “Flair” digital video paint system in the United States, and analyzed videotex and teletext opportunities. Prior to that, I supported all aspects of the Prestel International videotex trial service in the United States, including helping clients with database design, screen design, and data communications links.

Managed the analysis and coding of information in a legal support system for a major law firm. Also helped create a database for litigation support on behalf of a major oil company, and performed minor programming tasks
