I contributed to research in network management, SDN, and the mobile network with the FLUX research group at the University of Utah.Specifically, I developed an architecture that offloads mobile peer-to-peer (P2P) traffic to reduce connection latency and the load on the core mobile network (i.e. the EPC). The evaluation of this architecture demonstrated a 50% reduction in latency on a P2P connection (specifically, a Skype video call between two phones). As the primary author, our paper was accepted at ACM SOSR 2016: a leading research conference in networking.

I designed and developed a web-based system to interface a smart pillbox with an Android phone and a web application. The system is meant to alleviate the heavy costs of Directly Observed Therapy (DOT) mandated by the World Health Organization (WHO) for all patients receiving treatment for tuberculosis (TB). Instead, patients could demonstrate compliance to treatment by dispensing pills from a smart pillbox and record taking the pills using an Android phone. The video is sent to a dedicated server where a clinic worker may review the videos remotely. Our prototype was awarded $10,000 at the University of Utah's Center for Medical Innovation's Bench-to-Bedside competition.

I interned as a front-end developer working primarily in AngularJS on a mature codebase. As part of this internship, I worked in an agile development environment with a large partially remote team. As part of this agile development, we continuously delivered new front-end features to millions of users each day. As part of the team, I had to ensure my contributions would be deployable each day by writing thorough unit tests. I worked alongside experienced full-time employees implementing high priority code that was consumed by millions of users.

I taught six week-long classes to 5 to 20 young students each week for two summers. Before the first summer's the camp started, I was given access to the previous instructors material and realized the lessons were outdated and lacked visual appeal to the youth. I created new graphical content using Adobe products such as Flash and Illustrator to improve the visual programming experience. I also modified the course structure to better fit the current programming environment. Because of the success of my changes, the next summer I was asked to design and head a new course for advanced students that focused on software design patterns.

When I was 18, I developed my own business as a freelance web and graphic designer. Websites were personally coded, in HTML5, CSS3, etc., and designed to brand the company. Wordpress enabled sites and SEO were often high priorities in developing the websites. Graphics, such as logos and advertising, were developed over several iterations to meet my client's needs. Through referrals and social networking, I have designed websites and graphics for several companies that needed an online identity.
