About Rhylie Balkwill
Upon graduating with a Diploma in Medical Laboratory Science from the British Columbia Institute of Technology (BCIT) in February of 2026. I intend to work as Medical Laboratory Technologist in Canada, open to both large-volume hospital positions, traveling placements across Canada, and the service of rural communities. I chose to attend BCIT after completing a Bachelor of Science in Cellular, Molecular, Microbial Biology at the Univerisity of Calgary to pursue my interest in clinical Microbiology and Cancer Biology. Through my studies in Zoology, Organic Chemistry, Microbiology, Developmental Biology, and Immunology, I have been given the opportunity to enhance my education through extensive hands-on laboratory experience. I am grateful to have had many hours of exposure and experience with histology and immunohistochemistry techniques, cell culturing, investigative microbiological examination, and microscopic characterization. Additionally, I am interested in research in Gastrointestinal Science, Immunology & Infectious Diseases, Research & Development, and Biotechnology. I am looking to connect with people in these communities and gain experience in laboratories investigating current projects and prevalent health concerns. To Canadian researchers and corporations alike – feel free to reach out and make a connection!
