I am currently a Lawyer in the Enforcement & Compliance team at the Australian Securities and Investments Commission (ASIC).My role entails taking a range of civil, penalty, administrative, and criminal actions against breaches of the Corporations Act, ASIC Act, and National Consumer Credit Protection Act.Areas I’ve currently focused action on are:- Directors duties;- Insolvent trading; and- Financial services licensing.Previously, I was Legal Counsel & Compliance Officer at Adica Insurance, which exposed me to a diverse range of legal and compliance areas, including:- Drafting and negotiating multi-year, multi-million dollar commercial contracts;- Drafting tri-partite governance agreement and alliance agreements to govern the relationship with related entities;- Advising the business on complying with relevant legislation, regulations, and regulatory guides;- Overseeing the implementation of IT transformation and uplift company wide to ensure legal compliance;- Appointed as Deputy Chair of the Insurance Council of Australia working group on unfair contract terms; and- Drafting the Modern Slavery Statement.My previous role as a Lawyer in the General Insurance practice at Hall & Wilcox managing property damage litigtion (defence and recovery).As part of this role, I undertook a secondment to QBE to assist as a Claims Officer within their NSW/QLD Major Loss team.I have also worked as a Litigation Paralegal at Moray & Agnew Lawyers and then Hall & Wilcox in the General Insurance practice group running motor vehicle insurance matter in the Magistrates' Court, a Commercial Motor Claims Consultant at IAG, primarily working with CGU Direct and Business Partners in Victoria and Tasmania.I spent time living in London and worked as a Litigation Paralegal in the Litigation team at Fried, Frank, Harris, Shriver & Jacobson (London) LLP as the lead paralegal on a $1billion international arbitration matter.I formerly worked as a paralegal in the General Insurance practice group at Hall & Wilcox Lawyers.My role primarily focused on handling small motor vehicle files from inception to resolution - either by settlement or judgment.I also assisted solicitors on larger litigation matters by drafting legal documents or conducting research.I also have experience in assisting preparation of bushfire class action recovery actions.I have been involved in bringing High Court actions on behalf of asylum seekers that have been transported to Australia for medical treatment from Nauru. I also hold a Bachelor of Accounting from La Trobe University.
