ID@Xbox is the self-publishing platform of Xbox which has gone on to generate over $4B in royalties to independent game developers. He managed a team that found and negotiated game deals around the world. He led numerous developer and IP acquisition investigations for Microsoft and was the BD lead in the acquisition of the Gears of War IP from Epic Games in 2014. He maintains extensive relationships within the global game community.Rhys is a proven leader having successfully managed a large team across 2000 stores and grown a $120M P&L for a Fortune 500 entertainment company. At Hollywood Entertainment he engineered a turnaround of a failing used game business to double-digit growth and profitability. He pioneered the use of the rev-share model in the rental industry and grew topline revenue in the face of shrinking budgets.Previously, Rhys was a management consultant for McKinsey & Company serving Fortune 500 media & entertainment and high-tech clients. As Engagement Manager, he led teams to tackle important corporate issues including growth, innovation, and cost control. He has 30+ years of experience operating between Japan, Europe and North America. The breadth of his career ranges from start-ups (employee number 13!) to large investment banks (Goldman Sachs). Rhys has been a park ranger, coffee shop manager, and a medical researcher for a MacArthur Foundation scientist.Rhys has an MBA in Finance from Wharton, a B.A. from Yale, and is an alumnus of Phillips Andover Academy.
