As a barista at Dukes Coffee Company, I am responsible for ensuring that every customer has a great experience in our coffee shop. From making delicious coffee drinks to providing friendly service, I strive to create a welcoming atmosphere that keeps our customers coming back.In my role, I am responsible for preparing a wide range of coffee drinks, from classic espresso shots to creative latte art creations. I work with precision and care to ensure that each drink is made to our high standards, and I am always looking for ways to improve my craft and expand my knowledge of coffee.In addition to making coffee drinks, I am also responsible for maintaining a clean and organized workspace, restocking supplies, and handling cash transactions. I am a young eager worker with 5 years experience within the catering industry. the last 2 years I have spent within a mangement role helping to grow each establishment with my proactive work ethic. I am extemely profession and would consider myself to be extremely dedicated to the work I do.

As part of my internship with GVI; I was put on a work placement with Nature's Valley Trust. My roles with the trust included taking on independant projects while also assisting the staff with ongoing projects. I was able to use all the skills that I had previously gained with GVI to prove my good work ethic to the CEO and all of his staff.Some of the projects I carried out while with Nature's Valley Trust are as follows:Developing a field guide for all the local mushrooms and fungus; highlighting their traits, key features and an identification key.Travelling to multiple primary schools to give environmental education lectures which would include demonstrations of natural processes such as: filtration in soil and phototropism in plantlife.Carrying out a litter survey along the beaches twice a week and uploading the data to a public database - allowing the community to see what is polluting their oceans and beaches.Helping organise fundraisers for the trust.

While working with GVI, I carried out intern projects independantly and as part of a team of conservation interns within a game reserve. This internship allowed me to see very clearly into the working life of a conservationist. During my time on the reserve I learned an endless list of skills to help me with becoming more efficient in the field.Some of the work that I carried as part of my internship with GVI is as follows:Travelling to the local primary school to teach the students about their environment and the world around them. These environmental education lectures proved to be extremely usefull to the children and changed the mindset of the class when it came to topics such as deforestation, desertification, pollution, littering, poaching, etc.while with GVI I learned to track, use outdoor camera traps, navigate the reserve, use equipment such as telemetry sets, GPS and radios. Myself and another intern also took on the task of maintaining a Marula tree nursery which turned out to be an extremely successful (and now ongoing) project.
