My desire to understand goodness and be good to others has always motivated my educational, vocational, and personal pursuits. I am a recent honors graduate at UW-Madison with degrees in both English Literature and Philosophy (BS) with a certificate in Leadership. At UW-Madison, I acted as the co-editor in Chief of the Madison Journal of Literary Criticism, an abolitionist study group and international publication. I worked as a fellow for the Alpha Chapter of Phi Beta Kappa and as a Campus Information Guide while also serving as the undergraduate representative for the UW English Department's Literary Steering Committee. Additionally, my entire four years at Madison have been marked by my research with Professor Ingrid Diran and peer Anna Nelson, studying the Carceral State and its effects on social systems. On top of this research, I recently completed my individual honors thesis on angst in the coming of age novel, a project facilitated by Professor Mario Ortiz-Robles. My time at Madison has been incredibly immersive. With prior extracurricular involvement in Greek life, serving as the treasurer of the debate team (WSDS), acting as co-president for our mental health advocacy chapter of Active Minds, and serving as an active community member and writer at WSUM 91.7. Primarily, a lot of my free time goes towards creative writing, with many of my poems, short stories, and essays recently featured in a variety of literary journals and small press anthologies. I've worked a range of campus jobs tied to my interests: A Teaching Fellow (TA) for an introductory freshman seminar, a peer advisor for Student Orientation, Advising, and Registration, and as the Traffic Director at WSUM. I've been lucky enough to have been selected as a Global Gateway Scholar examining Race and Politics in Washington DC for one summer and to have interned in Dublin, Ireland for arts organization PhotoIreland. All my classes, jobs, and extracurricular experiences are deeply structured in learning through both conversation and collaboration. I am passionate in the belief that goodness can be found through working with and caring for others. These next few years, I hope to be allowed the opportunity to both explore and work more with my many passions in the form of internships, research, jobs, conferences, assignments, and volunteer experiences.

Editor In ChiefMadison Journal Of Literary Criticism Jul 2022 - May 2024Madison, WiThe MJLC operates through three interconnected branches: our study group, journal and educational materials. Between these branches, we aim to create social change both within our local group and beyond into the community. Study Group: The Madison Journal of Literary Criticism is a study group that meets weekly and functions primarily through reading and discussion. Tying together selected readings, local politics, and open forums, we discuss and critique the narratives and narrative implications of anything and everything that interests us. From movie analysis to unspoken narrative implications of both policy and activism, we aim to be a space where questioning/criticism serves as the starting place for new ideas. Journal: Alongside our study group, we have an editorial board that curates both externally submitted pieces and study group member features. Our journal is an anthology of criticism not limited to the academic format. We accept artwork, written work, traditional academic papers, journalistic features, op-eds, concept maps, and anything that acts as a form of criticism. Consisting of both submissions and staff written features, our journal is meant to showcase all forms of criticism. Educational Materials: As a study group, we rely heavily upon pre-existing, curated reading lists and self produced lesson plans. While we discuss and study, we document our process in hopes that our work can be emulated, shared, expanded, transformed, and critiqued. For the sake of transparency, we aim to document our entire process: our study group notes, our reading lists, our sources, and our reflections. We shall release discussion guides following our weekly meetings and lesson plans based on our conversations. All three branches are run by the co-editor in chiefs and the journal is supported by an amazing 15 person staff.
