As the manager of financial data system support at M*Modal (formerly MedQuist, formerly Spheris) my role is to manage all finance related software development and support of all financial applications. I personally do all the software development architecture and implementations in addition to managing consultants and a full-time support employee.

Spheris was acquired by MedQuist in 2010. As the only developer in the finance department, I am responsible for the complete lifecycle for Spheris' custom billing application and other custom applications including integration of the department into Sharepoint intranet. All applications are written in C# and SQL Server.

I am a Compuware Technology Specialist in Microsoft SQL Server and Visual Basic.Healthways, Inc.January 2007 - August 2007As a member of the BEVS Portfolio development team, I was responsible for designing and building solutions to enhance their call center application software to meet project requirements. Development was mostly done in VB.NET, C# and T-SQL stored procedures.Hospital Corporation of America (HCA)March 2006 - December 2006Working in a team of three, maintain and enhance custom supply chain applications, most notably the IMS web application. This is an n-tier application that heavily utilizes use of XML technologies at all tiers.

Developed enhancements to a large financial data mining application using VB.NET, C#, VB6, & T-SQL (SQL Server 2000). The application is a Windows forms client that has over one million lines of VB.NET and VB6 code and hundreds of stored procedures. Practiced an extensive development process including conceptual and technical documentation, scoping, design reviews, code reviews, and unit testing (TSQL Unit & nUnit). Due to the size of their databases (over 1TB), extensive effort and design time was spent in performance tuning of both SQL and VB code. Developed MS Reporting Services 2005 reports for use in a new ASP.NET 2.0 application to deliver products to the end users.

The most senior programmer in the organization responsible for final decisions regarding the architecture of all custom software solutions for the corporate headquarters. Wrote all the software design specifications for all major projects using proper modeling in UML. Also the senior DBA for all MS SQL Server 2000 databases. Wrote code for the more difficult projects. Jacobs Sverdrup is a government services contractor (mostly NASA & DoD) and I was part of the Enterprise Systems Group, which is responsible for implementing and deploying solutions to support the financial, project management, and HR requirements of those government contracts. We built enterprise solutions using primarily ASP & ASP.NET (VB.NET & C#) architectures as well as some smaller Windows forms applications.

Developed custom software for Wake Forest Medical Center and School of Medicine (North Carolina Baptist Hospital). My most notable project was a departmental database system for the Dept. of Neurology. The application was a Windows forms application developed by myself from the ground up using MS Visual Basic 6.0, MS SQL Server 7.0, and Crystal Reports. Institutional data was delivered and received through a Datagate interface using Winsocket interfaces that I developed in VB6. This data was then delivered to the client system and a custom workflow was developed that monitored the current status of patients in the department for treatment and also patients taking part in clinical trials. Part of this workflow included a transcription interface where transcriptionist would enter dictation from the physician and was then immediately available at all other stages of the workflow. Responsibilities included project planning, system design, resource allocation, installation and support.

Worked in an engineering research lab performing diverse activities including: Developing control and data acquisition programs using LabVIEW, metal lathe work, welding, etc. I also developed applications in Visual Basic for the purpose of performing scientific measurements and calculations.

Developed database management software for MS Windows Platforms using MS Access and MS Visual Basic. Clients included Columbia/HCA, Engineering Research Corporation (ERC), Walking Horse Trainers Association and others. Built, diagnosed and repaired computer systems and networks for the store front business.

Developed a web-based electronic catalog for Environmentally Sensitive Materials. Developed HTML and Visual Basic programs to aid in the organization of electronic catalog data.

Developed computer programs for file and inventory management of an engineering lab using dBase IV.
