The Canadian Elite Basketball League (CEBL) unveiled its newest franchise in Calgary on October 19, 2022, the Calgary Surge. The CEBL features 10 teams in six provinces, making it the largest pro sports league in Canada. The Surge play out of WinSport Event Centre. In our first year, the Surge finished at the top of the Western Conference standings (12-8), were crowned Western Conference Champions in the postseason, and received the Digital Excellence Award at the year-end CEBL Business Awards. Off the court, the Surge participated in over 100 community events in 2023.

My Ph.D. research, which was funded by the prestigious SSHRC Joseph-Armand Bombardier Canada Graduate Scholarship, aims to assist organizational leaders in shaping, leading, and sustaining innovation efforts in cross-sector partnerships.

Regular fixture on all news hours including federal election night (Decision Canada 2021), provincial election night (UCP Leadership 2022 & Decision Alberta 2023), and municipal election night (Decision Calgary 2021). My role entails: commenting on rapid developments in the political news cycle and providing analysis on topics such as economic development, political strategy, and public accountability.

The Global Shapers Community is an initiative of the World Economic Forum consisting of nearly 400 local hubs around the world that bring together over 10,000 top young leaders between the ages of 20 and 30. Global Shapers Calgary is a not-for-profit comprised of some of the city’s brightest young talent, including leading professionals in the realms of business, technology, healthcare, and academia. Shapers volunteer their time to design and implement community service projects that make a positive impact in the city.

As Director of Strategy, I led the organization's core research team and had the responsibility of overseeing the execution of the Economic Strategy for Calgary, "Calgary in the New Economy." I advanced key priorities related to Talent (retention, development, and reskilling), Place (downtown revitalization), and Business Environment (connectivity and business attraction). I left this role to complete my doctoral research and take a year of paternity leave.Key Achievements:-Led the team responsible for the Opportunity Calgary Investment Fund's (OCIF) $8.2M investment in SAIT's Digital Transformation (DX) Talent Hub.-Led the creation of the "LearningCITY Collective," a foundational group aiming to transform Calgary into a city that develops exceptional, creative, and adaptable talent.-Created the global award-winning New Economy LIVE event series that has engaged 1000+ Calgarians in the future vision for our city's economy.-Oversaw the largest amount of research released to the public in a single year, in CED history.-Supported successful company attraction efforts for RBC, Infosys, etc. -Represented CED on the City of Calgary Downtown Strategy Working Group; City of Calgary Business Advisory Council; Alberta 2030 Guiding Coalition; Immigrant Services Calgary’s Gateway Community Roundtable; SAIT’s School for Advanced Digital Technology Advisory Council; SAIT’s School of ICT Dean’s Tech Advisors Committee; University of Calgary’s Carnegie Community Engagement Classification – Canadian Pilot, Advisory Group; Calgary Police Service’s Future of Policing: 2040, Advisory Group; etc.

Utilized a wealth of knowledge and experience in the fields of education, innovation, and policy studies to assist several local, national, and international clients. Served as a trusted advisor to business, education, and governance leaders (and their teams) on how to improve the impacts of their policies, programs, and technology implementations organization-wide. This complex task required the expertise of someone who understands the unique demands of cross-sector work (private, public, non-profit) in a rapidly changing knowledge economy.

Regular fixture on the Thursday Political Panel on CBC News: Calgary at 6:00 with Rob Brown. My role entailed: commenting on rapid developments in political news cycle (municipal, provincial, federal, international), providing policy analysis, etc.

Successfully participated in a national competition to represent Canada at both the 2017 World Bank/International Monetary Fund Annual Meetings and 2018 Young Leaders Program Germany to discuss the most important issues facing our global economy from both a Canadian and international perspective.

My responsibilities included: policy analysis and research, strategy, debate preparation, speech writing, and communications and media support for a winning provincial leadership campaign.

My role entailed leading a Delegate Group of 25 youth delegates and contributing to a final report that was presented to the Prime Minister, the Minister of National Defence, and UN Secretariat.

My responsibilities associated with this voluntary role included: policy analysis and research, debate preparation, speech writing, and communications and media support for a winning mayoral campaign.

Graduate student committee member responsible for student advocacy, community building and self-governance within Division A and the AERA Graduate Student Council.

-One of 12 Directors from 2015-16 who represented over 21,000 graduate students conducting advanced research at Athabasca University, the University of Alberta, the University of Calgary, and the University of Lethbridge. -Tapped to transform the province’s policies and economies to flourish in an increasingly global future.-Served as an outside consultant to the council and to the External Relations Standing Committee at the University of Calgary in 2016-17.

-Instructed the "Technology, Math and Literacy"​ and "Passport" Programs.

-Promoted/sold/secured orders from existing and prospective customers through a relationship-based approach.-Demonstrated educational technology and services to existing/potential customers and assisted schools in selecting those best suited to their needs.

-Elected as a Site Representative serving in the Faculty of Education Students' Association.
