Esférico develops tools to measure and certify the carbon removal or emission reduction of farms and territories.We quantify carbon stocks in Mediterranean agricultural soils using a robust, scientifically validated MRV mechanism that extrapolates ground truth data through machine learning, calibrated to the specific edaphoclimatic characteristics. To meet the needs of the Mediterranean farming profile, we are developing tailor-made software for the management of "grouped projects", a category of multi-stakeholder carbon projects that allows the dynamic organisation of data from the various small and medium-sized farmers that make up the territory (cooperatives and associations) and enables their entry into the voluntary carbon market.

NGO focused on promoting regenerative agricultural practices through strategic partnerships, consultancy and research. We facilitate multi-stakeholder approaches to secure funding and accelerate the implementation of agricultural projects that enhance climate change mitigation and adaptation and improve rural livelihoods. We design and implement experimental cases in collaboration with research institutions, and organise educational events and awareness campaigns to promote public participation and knowledge about regenerative agriculture.

CREDIBLE is a EU-funded platform for moderating the network of European initiatives/projects/stakeholders in carbon farming with the aim of ensuring the transparency, environmental integrity and methodological standardisation in soil carbon accounting required for achieving the EU’s Climate policy objectives.- invited to join the European Commission Technical Expert Group on agriculture on mineral soils, supporting the development of certification methodologies for carbon farming at EU level.

Leading the task "Carbon farming scheme implementation pathways and governance" as part of the Work Package "Setting up fit-for-purpose result-based C farming schemes based on MRV methodologies". The work consists in exploring suitable and viable C farming scheme configurations through a baseline evaluation of the climate performances of the regenerative practices; developing fit-for-purpose guidance for the design of fit-for-region MRV methods that will effectively scale up result-based C farming schemes in the smallholder farming systems; and setting up the overall scheme and implement governance structure of result-based C farming schemes with reference to opportunities for the smallholders.

The research is part of the Erasmus Mundus International Master Programme called: Mediterranean Forestry and Natural Resources Management, done partially in Portugal, Spain and Italy.The development of the MSc thesis on Hermetia illucens breeding opportunities was done in partnership with Entomo, a Private R&D company focused on exploring the various application that Black-Soldier-Fly larvae has to recycle industrial organic waste.During this period I was:- Responsible for optimizing storage of seeding-neonate larvae for logistics purpose- In charge of H. illucens production (full cycle)

The Food Circles Hackathon is a full weekend online event where several teams will learn by doing how to work on innovative ideas and solutions for local food chain challenges. The event invited participants from all over the world interested in developing their projects in one of the following countries: Egypt, Tunisia, Spain and Portugal. The Food Circles Hack provided mentorship (7 sessions), workshops on how to bring ideas to action and inspiring talks during the weekend. Small allowances (2400€ in total) were granted to selected projects to start their work. Participation in the Hackathon was free of cost. In charge of researching solutions on Zero Waste, focused on Community Composting, in collaboration with Permakultur Akademie and Alexander von Humboldt Foundation.The research is a pioneer initiative on gathering in situ information about community composting around Europe. By visiting successful establishments working on community participation (waste management and organic food production), sufficient information has been collected for the setting up the first Berliner's Zoo Compost station. At the station, the chickens eat the food scraps that are still edible, the larvae of Black Soldier Fly digest the fat and the hard-to-decompose residues while the red worms happily eat the vegetable leftovers.Community composting is a powerful and cheap alternative to Municipal Waste Management and to help braking Climate Changes (local requires less or zero fuel consumption and store carbon in the soils) and to create the ways to combat the silent huge problem of Soil Fertility loss worldwide (plus, organic fertilizer can retain until 25% more the water in soils). Also, it is an easy and fast way to implement Zero Waste mentality and citizen participation programs: each station is an example of Environmental policy and education. All the fertilizer and by-products produced is going to be used to make cities greener, more resilient and healthier, requiring more job posts as well.

Working on a project called Compost Revolution committed to introduce low-cost household composting systems as an alternative method to treat organic waste in urban areas.

The Cadico Minhocas look for a balanced approach to long-term social, environmental and economic objectives, following the basic principles of sustainability. The environmental education program consist on empowering the local community through citizen participation and sharing the waste management responsibility. The worm composting bins will guarantee that between 20% and 50% of household waste will be treated locally, extending the landfills service life, reducing waste management charges and producing tones of organic fertilizer.The relevance of the Cadico Minhocas venture was recognized by different institutions and won several prizes as Young Environmental Ambassador (UNEP and Bayer), Green Project Award (Portuguese consultancy company) and YouthActionNet (International Youth Foundation).
