Intern - Advanced Mechanical And Mechatronics System Design GroupGe Oil & Gas Jun 2016 - Aug 2016Houston, Texas- Designed and performed compression testing on new elastomer materials to study creep relaxation responses of seals.- Ran studies to predict seal time-to-failure (leakage) after real time and accelerated chemical and temperature exposure.- Integrated and calibrated a new temperature measurement system in a high temperature chamber that improved testing reliability- Initiated a series of new compression and fatigue test on elastomers that will be continued in order to obtain information that will be used to create accurate FEA analysis of O-ring seals.

Capstone Student/InternEdwards Lifesciences Jan 2016 - May 2016Añasco, Puerto Rico- Reduced heat treating time and increased reliability by implementing a heat treating process that could be used for 98% of the metal parts manufactured in the facility. - Created user-friendly training documents to instruct machine shop workers on how to determine and perform the ideal heat treatment based on a part's material and size.- Designed a flow chart to be placed in the machine shop's wall for workers to use when performing heat treatments. For our CAPSTONE project, the company assigned to us the task of reducing their parts heat treatment time and increasing the percentage of achieved hardness results. The parts that were to be treated were metal dyes, used in the manufacturing process to shape the catheters after the injection molding process. By researching the various heat treatment processes and performing a few test runs, we were able to deliver a final product that would be used by the tool makers. -
Process Engineer - InternFreescale Semiconductor May 2015 - Aug 2015Austin, Texas Area- Improved coating processes in order to reduce the amount of coating chemical used, thus reducing cost, used during the manufacturing of wafers. - Troubleshooting of coating tools when dispense problems, stains or bubbles were detected on production wafers.- Created a new "coating recipe" for a newly introduced chemical and carried out testing and validation for production release.- Organized and conducted the transition of the Fab's outdated wafer tracking software to a new software. Developed training for operators. My experience at Freescale was full of learning. Working in the photolithography area was challenging at first. The manufacturing processes used seemed very complicated, but this was all part of the learning experience. I enjoyed the fast passed environment and the fact that all manufacturing areas strive to work together to reach or exceed the set output goals. -
Equipment Engineer Co-OpAmgen Feb 2015 - May 2015Juncos, Puerto Rico- Resolved equipment design problems that were causing pills to get chipped or stuck during the manufacturing process. - Evaluated the likelihood of particle introduction by polymer spare parts during the manufacturing process and created a spare parts replacement schedule. - Coordinated with vendor to design machine guards to prevent any human injury in the bottling and packaging line. As my first experience working in hte industry, this Co-op in Amgen was very interesting and entertaining. The manufacturing and packaging areas were high level clean rooms, equipment maintenance was extremely important and production efficiency was always a goal. It was great seeing the amount of effort that every employee has to provide in order to create a perfectly safe and effective product that will help the lives of patients.
