Ricardo Campos Freire is a Dancer and Choreographer born in Lisbon, Portugal, and educated at Superior Dance School in Lisbon and Stockholm University of the Arts.Started as a dancer with the Portuguese Company of Contemporary Dance went on to perform with the Croatian National Theatre, Bitef Dance Company, Ballet Hagen, and Pfalztheater Kaiserslautern. Worked with choreographers such as Mauro Bigonzetti, Patrick Delcroix, André Mesquita, James Sutherland, Cayetano Soto, Vasco Wellenkamp, Marco Goecke, Rui Lopes Graça, Maša Kolar, Francesco Nappa, and Ricardo Fernando.In 2015, Ricardo won the Smiljana Mandukic Award for the best dancer of the year in Belgrade, Serbia.He's developing his choreographic works since 2011, starting with the duet Mundo meu for the Portuguese Company of Contemporary Dance and choreographing Fallback and In Two for DLWorks in Lisbon.Winner of the Audience Award at the 18th Festival of Choreographic Miniatures in Belgrade with the solo U meni, being present the following year as a special guest with his pieces Inbetween and Inverted Image.Inserted in the project Tanzlabor, created Apart and Unstable ground for Ballet Hagen. Apart was chosen to be presented at the 31st international competition for choreographers in Hannover.In 2017 created Clash and Outsider for the Korea Youth Ballet Stars in Seoul, and under de project Choreo Lab, Impressions of Myself for the Croatian National Theatre in Rijeka. In the same year was invited to create the duet Unavoidable for the festival KOTID in Frankfurt.More recently choreographed For those who can hear me for Dance Arts Faculty in Rome, Us for Yen Han Ballet Productions in Zürich, Num Instante for Companhia Nós da Dança in Póvoa do Varzim, and Public Domain for Companhia Portuguesa de Bailado Contemporâneo. Guest artist with Tanzkompanie bo komplex, Yen Han Ballet Productions, Julia Maria Koch, DAF (Dance Arts Faculty), Companhia Nós da Dança, Companhia Portuguesa de Bailado Contemporâneo, Tanzgebiet, Choreoloop, WestDeutsches Tanztheater, animi motus, and Pfalztheater Kaiserslautern. Ricardo has been developing his work in South Korea, Italy, Croatia, Switzerland, Serbia, Egypt, Malta, USA, Germany, Bósnia and Herzegovina, Portugal, Montenegro, North Macedonia, Vietnam, and Sweden.
