I am a senior Banker with more than 30 years of leadership experience in corporate, wholesale and investment banking.Most recently, I was the General Manager for the London branch of Novo Banco SA (Banco Espírito Santo before Aug-14), where I led a multicultural team and drove the branch to the number one position in the bank’s global footprint. I took overall responsibility for wholesale banking, including credit, treasury and capital markets. This encompassed the development of a successful leveraged and acquisition finance division, structured trade finance and project finance, as well as money markets and FX trading, debt fundraising and administration of the loan portfolio.Over the course of 15 years, I led the bank through significant market, sovereign and institutional challenges, maintaining strong profitability through robust strategic planning, risk management and internal controls. I steered a number of organisational, operational and technology transformations focused on improved cost efficiency and business performance as markets, regulation and the banking industry evolved.I have recently taken a planned career break, during which I added to my advisory and consulting portfolio, and I have also taken several ESG and sustainability qualifications to ensure that I am well positioned to offer guidance during the next major challenge to the financial services sector and the wider economy.I am currently assisting some start-up ventures in the areas of management consultancy and sporting events on a part-time basis and continue to actively look for executive, advisory and non-executive roles and am always open to discussing opportunities or engaging with fellow professionals with similar interests.Please feel free to message me via LinkedIn.
