There’s a lot of details to running it successfully but it boils down to this: great service + great product = successful business. Be responsible and smart as possible with expenses and take care of everyday business needs in a timely manner. There will be conflicts and problems. That’s business. That’s what makes it challenging. That’s what makes if fulfilling.A Story: How I Do BusinessYears ago, I was photographing 3 models in three different time frames during the day. I had just finished photographing the first model and was going to start on the second. The third had arrived to start on makeup. I stepped away to get something and guess what, they started talking to each other….When I came around the corner, one of them said “We were just saying how you’re the most organized photographer we’ve ever worked with! The timing of the shoots. The digital agreements. The Call Sheet. The day of the shoot. Everything! Most photographers don’t even have agreements. Much less digital ones….”
