I am blessed to be a secondary school English Language & Literature teacher in Hong Kong! My teaching career in HK since 2006 has encompassed kindergarten (1 year), primary school (4 years) and both junior and senior secondary (10 years), which has imbued me with an awareness of and appreciation for the holistic educational journey of my students. Moreover, by serving a variety of schools - boys', girls' & co-ed - my journey has exposed me to a diverse spectrum of learning styles, needs and support measures. In the last 10 years of secondary, irrespective of environment or workplace culture, I have consistently demonstrated a positive impact on exam results.Proud to say that in all of my schools, I have remained true to my ethos: to work bottom-up in addressing my students' concerns and facilitating achievement of their goals; whilst working top-down to drive innovation within the English department by disseminating self-produced materials, modifying both curriculum and assessment tools, and supporting colleagues in their own professional growth through training.Incredibly lucky to be given a platform to share my creativity. I have written the libretto (book) for a student-led musical to celebrate a school's 85th anniversary, and many scripts for student-led dramatic productions for end-of-year school events. Also, I have both written and directed a teacher-student comedy skit to commemorate a school's 50th anniversary; a student-led play for entry to Hong Kong School Drama Festival, and a student-led Christmas pantomime. Additionally, I have written school songs for Christmas concerts, and incorporated poetry recitals (haikus) as part of my Morning Assembly duties under the banner "Taylor Time".Outside of the classroom, when not playing computer games with my 2 sons, or gardening with my partner, I am hiking the gorgeous mountain scenery of Hong Kong, cycling along its stunning coastline, or swimming its beautiful waters. All so I can enjoy that last basket ('steam dragon') of dim sum.
