Design of a suborbital aircraft for space tourism flights.The Structure and Materials Division focused on the following topics:• Preliminary concept of mission and spacecraft• Study and choice of the advanced materials taking into account weight requirements and structural/thermal loads.• Structural design of the aircraft and definition of a CAD model complete of secondary structures, tanks and subsystems• Definition of the main static loads• Static FEM analysis of the wingboxThe project was awarded the "Dassault Aviation Prize" during the 2021 edition of the "Student Aerospace Challenge" organized by ESA, Dassault Aviation, ArianeGroup.

Topic of the internship: "Design of an Unmanned Airship for aerial monitoring of large areas".• Update of the state of the art of airships, focus on modern anemometry and EU Regulations for UAVs/RPVs.• Evaluation of structural solutions for a nonconventional airship.• Definition and integration of the payload and the monitoring system.• Definition of a type mission and of the speed altitude limits for the monitoring systems.
