We lived in Naples, Italy —where I was born. I grew up with Italians playing soccer (they had me at goalie a lot since I was the "American"), and played flash light tag in the Naples Colosseum until the security guards would chase us out. The best place I lived was Keflavik, Iceland. I spent my summers on an Icelandic pony farm, working, fishing, hiking, and swimming in streams. The northern lights were incredible and the Icelanders we friendly and welcoming. We also spent time in North and South Carolina, Texas, and California. Like most military families, we moved a lot, so I’m used to adapting, meeting new people, new cultures, and understanding different ways of seeing things. I have always used a ‘we’ approach to managing. I liked working in a team with each member front-loaded with their responsibility. I’ve developed teams that worked well together, understood their responsibilities, and over-communicated. In the restaurant business, a lot of times we’ll pull someone from the stores to work in the corporate office since they have the cultural and operational familiarity with Islands. They will have some of the requirements—but not all—so I'll train them up to get them where they need to be. My personality is very outgoing. I am talkative and love meeting people and have no problems with public speaking.
