As platform manager for the professional development programme at the Royal Society of Chemistry I guide solutions for the organisation’s professional development capabilities managing three platforms for the business. I am responsible for the creation, maintenance and development of processes to ensure that systems are being used to their full potential and are in-line with business needs. I ensure that professional development tools are linked, to the wider RSC estate, and delivered in a timely and effective manner. I also ensure that a high level of customer service is delivered to Programme customers at all times. I coordinate all professional development ICT projects as well as liaise with third party providers/contractors and ensure that their commitments are fulfilled. In addition I manage data across three professional development platforms and work with internal and external stakeholders to ensure data integrity is maintained at all times.Accountabilities• Management of Professional Development platforms.• Point of contact for both RSC employees and suppliers for third-party platforms used for the Professional Development ecosystem.• Subject manager expert on use and functionality of platforms, ensuring knowledge is maintained as new features and functionality is released and undertaking training with vendors as required.• Application administration, access control for new or deleted users, and maintaining best practice set-up as advised by vendors.• Using the applications and tools supplied by vendors and/or the RSC to ensure that the platforms are running and performing optimally.• Create management information via the platform reporting mechanisms.• Provide support on using the platforms, acting as a point of contact, escalating to vendors/Technology as required. Manage integrity of the system and system maintenance.• Provide training for business users on how to use the platforms and create documentation on how platforms are used.

This relied on collaboration with top experts in the field of teacher CPD, and ensuring the latest research into education and pedagogy is imparted through the Society’s CPD offering. I managed circa 30 contractors who were either involved in authoring or reviewing material, or acting as trainers at CPD events. Excellent acumen of the place of CPD within the profession was required to aid development of future activities. A technical appreciation of web development and becoming active with local networks ensured the needs of the education professional are satisfied. During 2014 I co-led the launch of the Royal Society of Chemistry's first online platform for CPD for Teachers, which will ultimately swell the portfolio of courses 15 fold. The platform has been successful gaining over 1000 subscriptions across the globe in the first month.
