As platform manager for the professional development programme at the Royal Society of Chemistry I guide solutions for the organisation’s professional development capabilities managing three platforms for the business. I am responsible for the creation, maintenance and development of processes to ensure that systems are being used to their full potential and are in-line with business needs. I ensure that professional development tools are linked, to the wider RSC estate, and delivered in a timely and effective manner. I also ensure that a high level of customer service is delivered to Programme customers at all times. I coordinate all professional development ICT projects as well as liaise with third party providers/contractors and ensure that their commitments are fulfilled. In addition I manage data across three professional development platforms and work with internal and external stakeholders to ensure data integrity is maintained at all times.Accountabilities• Management of Professional Development platforms.• Point of contact for both RSC employees and suppliers for third-party platforms used for the Professional Development ecosystem.• Subject manager expert on use and functionality of platforms, ensuring knowledge is maintained as new features and functionality is released and undertaking training with vendors as required.• Application administration, access control for new or deleted users, and maintaining best practice set-up as advised by vendors.• Using the applications and tools supplied by vendors and/or the RSC to ensure that the platforms are running and performing optimally.• Create management information via the platform reporting mechanisms.• Provide support on using the platforms, acting as a point of contact, escalating to vendors/Technology as required. Manage integrity of the system and system maintenance.• Provide training for business users on how to use the platforms and create documentation on how platforms are used.

Managing our Teacher Professional Development Service starts with defining and maintaining our strategy, making the society's offering more successful than ever. The focus is on optimising the value and sustainability of our professional development provision for teachers, and on developing new evidence-informed propositions, products, partnerships and business models.My aim is to improve the capability of thousands of teachers and tens of thousands of children.

Responsible for project managing various aspects of the implementation and development of the CPD for Teachers portfolio for the Royal Society of Chemistry, both in the UK and for a global audience. This relied on collaboration with top experts in the field of teacher CPD, and ensuring the latest research into education and pedagogy is imparted through the Society’s CPD offering. I managed circa 30 contractors who were either involved in authoring or reviewing material, or acting as trainers at CPD events. Excellent acumen of the place of CPD within the profession was required to aid development of future activities. A technical appreciation of web development and becoming active with local networks ensured the needs of the education professional are satisfied. During 2014 I co-led the launch of the Royal Society of Chemistry's first online platform for CPD for Teachers, which will ultimately swell the portfolio of courses 15 fold. The platform has been successful gaining over 1000 subscriptions across the globe in the first month.

I set up a small business in 2009 owning and managing property. Since then I have developed and flipped property and grown a small portfolio. I have a focus on maintaining high standards and a close relationship with customers to build a strong brand and loyal customer base. The aim is to improve the reputation of those operating in the sector through impeccable practice. To date this has been achieved with over 15 years of happy tenants.

Undertook a lead role in scientific enrichment helping run a Rocket Club and providing information for GCSE and A-level students on pathways for scientific careers. Through taking part in the Connecting Classrooms project I fostered sharing of best practice working with 5-8 partner schools in the region to enhance science teaching in 2 countries in Africa. I attended local STEM meetings and presented to colleagues to foster science enrichment.

Bournville was my first teaching appointment, and where I completed my NQT year. During my time at Bournville I ran the school Science Club sparking huge success, with numbers swelling to 35 students. In addition I was able to complement these enrichment activities through the running of a trip for 10 gifted & talented students to Thinktank. I also ran training for around 15 other newly qualified teachers on peer observation. The Physics Factory captured my interest as a leading venue for enhancing pedagogy, and fostered my interest in CPD and enrichment. It was during this time I authored and published resources on the school VLE.

Responsible for liaising across circa 10 teams to ensure the company was adequately prepared for the new European REACH (Registration, Evaluation, Authorisation and Restriction of CHemicals) regulation. When he joined the company he was handed a backlog of over 200 issues. I designed a system using Excel to capture the requests and summarise them clearing the backlog and vastly cutting administration time. My system became a shared resource between the US and Europe for REACH matters across Chemtura.

Expert in NMR, IR, HPLC, UV and LC-MS, including forensic investigations to troubleshoot supply issues. Skills acquired or fostered during my time at GSK included:Team Leading• Coordination of staff for training programmes spanning science and equipment.• Lead for a team of scientists on periodic requalification of equipment.• Running team meetings.Technical• Coordination of analysis performed for the worldwide Isotope group.• Health and Safety risk assessment of laboratory materials (COSHH).• Quality representative for the departmental quality group. Training• New and existing staff tutored on equipment, NMR and infrared spectroscopy, HPLC, GxP and software.• Coordination of existing training programmes.• Designer and coordinator of the annual two week training programme for Industrial Placement students. Numbers would often total around 20 students from UK universities.In addition, I acted as an expert guide for the visits of A-level and GCSE students to GSK; I enjoyed sharing my enthusiasm for science and fielding questions to satisfy students’ curiosity and foster their interest. I was also involved in GSK’s special program for 10-15 pupils of college age visiting GSK from South Africa.
