Directed and supervised all resources for one of the busiest and most innovative public psychiatric hospitals in the country. Also served as a senior clinical consultant at this 368-bed psychiatric facility serving adult, substance abusing, forensic, adolescent and developmentally disabled citizens of the Metro Atlanta area. The facility employed over 750 personnel, averaged more than 6,500 admissions per year and had an annual budget in excess of $29 million. GRHA was HCFA certified and JCAHO accredited (with commendation from 1992 to 1995). Also known as the Metro Atlanta Psychiatric Care System, it acquired/converted a free standing Methadone Treatment/Multi-substance Abuse Center; created the state’s first hospital based Assertive Community Treatment Team; pioneered state hospital participation in managed behavioral health care; forged a unique State/Private/County/Community collaborative crisis service and became Georgia’s first vertically integrated state hospital service.
