Based on extensive research and feedback from dozens of LinkedIn members from the education community and other stakeholders, Vocabulary Is Power™ (VIP) Program is ASEP’s first program offering. VIP is a vocabulary-based literacy development program designed for Chicago's under-served communities to vastly expand students’ Tier 2 vocabulary base, boost comprehension, reading and writing skills, improve critical thinking skills, promote teamwork, and enhance their math skills!Our programs utilize online activities/games in partnership with Quizlet.com to fully engage students in the learning process in order to help them reach their full potential. If you are an administrator in a south side Chicago elementary school and primarily serve minority students, or a business owner in the Chicagoland area who would like to consider partnering with us, we need to talk! I am responsible for program development/implementation, strategic partnerships development, volunteer recruitment/retention, marketing, and more.The City of Chicago, and therefore Chicago's public school system, is grossly underfunded and therefore many fine schools lack the resources and programs necessary for adequate student growth. ASEP is teaming up with local businesses (city and suburbs!), foundations, other nonprofits such as YMCA and Chicago Youth Centers, etc. to bring unique, quality in-school and after-school programming to deserving students. Founded, developed and implemented an elderly Visiting and Outings programs for 200 elderly residents of Chicago's south suburbs, including volunteer recruitment/training, fundraising, administration, and marketing. I also visited five senior citizens myself weekly during my years with REAP.
