Responsible for sourcing and analysis of investment opportunities and deal structuring at PieLab, a Brisbane based Venture Capital firm. Role includes establishing legal documentation required for capital raising and fund management. Also responsible for business development of, and financial reporting for, investee businesses. Pie Lab's first fund, Real Estate Industry Venture Capital Fund 2016 (REIVCF16), is a $20 million fund whose mandate is to invest in businesses that service the real estate industry taking advantage of our reputation and networks as a leading figure in the real estate industry.

Evolve Capital is a boutique investment and financial consulting firm. Through Evolve, Richard provides financial consulting services to a number of small to medium size businesses in Real Estate, Hospitality and other sectors. Evolve is also a Venture Capital investor in a number of the businesses that it consults to.

Richard owned and operated The Healthy Food Co. which established and developed a number of ‘Health Food’ cafes. Responsible for café design and development, financial management, recruitment and training of managers, menu development, marketing and all other aspects of café management. All cafes were successful and sold at a considerable profit.

Evolve Capital invested in Caporn Young Estate agents and as a director Richard was instrumental in developing CY to become one of Perth’s premier residential real estate brands. Richard was primarily responsible for the financial and commercial management of the business but also managed the Property Management department, Brand development, Office development and Operational and IT systems. Richard exited his shares after the business had grown considerably in value. Caporn Young remains one of Perth’s leading real estate businesses.

Richard established and developed Jesters into an international franchise system of retail pie shops. During Richards time at Jesters he established a food manufacturing facility that serviced the 80 retails stores he developed nationally. Jesters also grew to NZ via a master Franchise agreement. Jesters was sold to Australian Agricultural Co. Ltd, a listed company and Australia’s largest beef producer. Jesters remains a strong brand in WA and NZ.
