As the Chief Instructor I was responsible for specifying the mountaineering and rescue training carried out by the RAF's 4 Mountain Rescue Teams. I was also an operational member of the MRT and lead search parties on numerous search and rescue operations throughout the mountainous areas of the UK and Republic of Ireland.Delivered mountaineering training - rock climbing, snow and ice climbing, mountain leadership.Mentored team members through NGB qualifications.Instructed technical rope rescue techniques.Organised Search and Rescue exercises.Introduced new equipment and including the design of a replacement stretcher.Carried out annual team audits, assessing teams operational capability.Ensured the Service training was in line with civilian MR guidelines - including flood response.Maintained and rewrote training manuals and records of training.
