At Terrapin Architecture, we create living and working environments that function well, look and feel good and hold value – by listening to our clients, their desires and budget, and integrating our knowledge and understanding of good design and the construction process.Terrapin Architecture is a full-service Architecture firm located in Port Townsend, Washington on the Olympic Peninsula. We specialize in custom homes, renovations, and smaller, unique commercial and institutional buildings. In addition to their residential design experience, our two principal Architects, myself and Erik Kuzma, share expertise in both historic preservation and authentic timber framing. These skills imbue our finished projects with an apparent quality and visual interest. Our strong ongoing belief in the importance of environmental stewardship means that green building practices have always been a part of our practice and will continue to be so. We constantly strive to learn and incorporate new environmentally conscious strategies into our buildings. We feel that good stewardship of our planet is very important and have always designed with a high level of energy efficiency in mind. One of our staff, Jesse Thomas, has recently become a Passive House Institute certified consultant, trained in the operation of Passive House energy use analysis software. This has increased our knowledge of effective energy efficiency strategies whether or not Passive House certification is a prerequisite for a given project. We design from a place of great knowledge and understanding of the construction process. We know how to detail your building in a way that will be straightforward and efficient to construct. We understand the importance of schedule and budget, and we consider your satisfaction with your project, from beginning to end, to be the most important measure of our success.
