Working with the Auckland based Airways delivery team on behalf of Nebty Ltd. (earlier via Nonsuch Consulting Services Ltd.), this role started with delivering Aeronautical Ground Lighting (AGL) asset renewals projects as part of a larger programme of works based at Auckland International Airport, both for Airways and Auckland International Airport Ltd. Services provided have expanded into systems engineering, requirements analysis, portfolio analysis / development & the leadership and management of a committed group of professionals, working on aerodrome visual navigation aids technology and infrastructure, keeping Auckland Airport open for business.Richard developed the 5-year+ asset renewals road map for Auckland International Airport AGL, detailed delivery plans and starting the implementation of the road map for Auckland International Airport - New Zealand's largest airport and gateway between the country and the rest of the world. The role included the development of a major multi-year upgrade to runway facilities and operations, enabling the airport to improve the life of the existing airfield facilities and better manage unplanned events as well as meeting the evolving regulatory requirements.

Responsible for major projects at NZ's leading ICT provider, providing client liaison, team leadership, project management and reporting involving WAN (networks) and SIP (IP Voice).The role utilised my eye for detail, my diligence and focus on information quality, my drive to deliver and my ability to understand technical, commercial and process aspects of the contract signed, the implementation required and the organisations I worked within and into.This role also involved providing critical data integration to merge various data sets into a single bespoke management tool and key support to the BAU provisioning, finance and service delivery teams to help them with supporting the client outside of the project scope and at the boundaries.In particular:a) Nationwide network upgrade to new WAN (Layer 3) product for a key Enterprise client in the infrastructure and building sector in NZ. This project operated at a dual pace: i) Nationwide Distribution business WAN upgrade ahead of a cost-out initiative. This was about getting sufficient bandwidth aligned to the client's marching program, and a follow-up optimisation with the best value service. ii) Central Corporate upgrade to take advantage of the latest technology and build a pathway to growth by future proofing services for the next decade and beyond. This was about helping provide the best options and helping the parties understand the commercials negotiated and navigating the myriad complexities from requirements to operations.b) Delivering SIP services / infrastructure for client's voice services for a major player in the Energy sector through delivery, pilot and into production migrations and is currently tweaking the solution to best meet the needs of the client channel loading.c) Used SAP (financial), Salesforce (CRM/PPM), Sentient (PPM), MS Project.

A leveraging role, delivering high value skills into a very broad project management staff base this role provided a hybrid planning / management service based on past management roles.a) Provided expert project management planning consultancy service to Telecom NZ across Mobile, RNGT and other major programmes of work across the business.b) Delivery group response to the capital plan for Mobile investment for 2009/10, including introduction of a novel analytic solution to understanding the impact of the capital plan (introducing the concept of the pipeline to the group).c) Trained staff, developed processes and procedures, tools, reporting, etc.

Small niche role providing specialist advice/assistance.Development of a cost model to manage the forecasting / UK reporting regime. Development of a manual and training of staff in the use of model.Provided additional functionality over and above the requirement which was received very well by the client.

Came in at short notice to help out with a final push to get the NRTS site programme completed. Took over management of the site teams and general liaison with procurement/subcontractors thereof. Helped develop IT tools (Excel) for ongoing support management and streamlining site management. What started as a 4 week posting to help an old client out while I was searching for a new post turned into over 3 months!

This role, a continuation of a previous role, has been to provide ongoing support and development for an Access tool developed during my principal time with the client.

Assisted with building cost to dates from sparse data sources, developed programme reporting tools (Excel), set up cost reporting tools for new programme and latterly developed a training schedule management tool to allow scheduling of the training programme (for approx 5000 trainees, 110 courses). This last role migrated to an "out-of-hours" consultancy position which is running to Dec-2007.

A board level reporting position, this Rail industry role was rapidly doubled up to include two key roles, one within Thales Land & Joint (Naval) and the other within Thales Land & Joint (Rail). The Rail role was associated with managing a project in difficulty through to completion (this met with mixed success). The Naval role was involved in bid management and programme management content of bids for the UK Naval CVF programme (comms related work).

A role focused on integrating two programmes of work for the Highways Agency NRTS programme. Providing Earned Value Management reporting, programme level plans and other misc planning reports for the programme director, a key focus for the client planning team and dedicated planning support to the two programme managers and their team. The role was reliant on past experience in project management to act as a lever to the programme managers to minimise the time required to turn "back of envelope" discussions into viable plans. This succeeded without a doubt!
