Responsible for a small team of engineers in the support of a purpose built facility following the closure of Television Centre. Heavily involved in the technical design of the facilities, almost all of which was completely from scratch. This has also involved embracing new technologies as a result of the shift in focus of the business away from traditional post production editing and more towards digital media and file fulfilment.

• Direct day-to-day responsibility for the maintenance and upkeep of specific areas within the entire BBC Post Production operation. Primarily videotape edit suites and in later years progressing towards non-linear editing (Avid, FCP).• Providing engineering cover for live transmissions, often with tight deadlines and turn-arounds e.g. Match Of The Day, Grandstand, as well as high profile entertainment shows (Children In Need, Comic Relief) and the entire range of BBC output that required 'VT' capability.• Liaising with system integrators with regards to the construction of new installations.• Building of bespoke installations for use either permanently or on a one-off basis.• Responsible for scheduling to ensure that engineering cover was available from 0730 – 2330 Mon-Sun, or at hours outside these as necessary.• Line Management responsibility for 8 engineers (at peak), including carrying out appraisals.

Continuing maintenance and support as in the previous role, but now also including supporting and guiding more junior staff. Starting to develop specialisms, specifically Telecine.Engineering cover throughout the day for the VT transmission suites, playing programmes into BBC1 and BBC2.

Maintenance and support of the Post Production Centre in Stage 5, Television Centre, which at that time was the largest such installation in Europe.

Providing maintenance and support for, and operation of, the videotape transfer area at the BBC film & tape library in Brentford. This period was also interspersed with traning courses at BBC Wood Norton leading to full BBC Engineer qualified status.
