After many years of meetings, fundraising, planning, design and blood sweat and tears, an official groundbreaking ceremony was held to unveil the new Jeffery Mosenson Trauma and Emergency Medicine Center and Research Laboratory. While the school is indeed a memorial to who and what Jeff was, it is important that people understand the results that the school will provide is the true legacy of Jeff. The Nassau County Fire, Police and EMS Academy that will be housed in the new training center will now be able to train up to 2,500 medical first responders per year, up from its prior maximum number of 1,000 trainees per year. The new 14,000 square foot state of the art facility houses the Fire-Police EMS Academy (FPA) and research center for the New York Institute of Technology, New York College of Osteopathic Medicine (NYCOM) is on the campus at the Nassau University Medical Center.
