Wow it’s 9 years since I updated my profile! I have now been practicing for 41 years and have a thriving private practice to show for it! Gone are the days of working as a lecturer at the Birmingham School of Podiatry which taught me so much and allowed me to advance my MSK skills. Gone are the days of being an examiner including overseas students for what is now the Royal College of Podiatry. I spent 20 years as the Podiatrist to Warwickshire County Cricket Club, travelled to West Coast USA to learn from the ‘fathers of biomechanics’, I have run my own MSK courses, been a mentor to many and held various committee roles in the West Midlands Podiatry study group, the Birmingham Branch,which I chaired for many years and been an Area Branch representative. I worked at what is now Heartlands Hospital dealing with high risk patients before wound clinics were invented and worked in Community Clinics in deprived inner city areas as part of a multidisciplinary team which taught me so much. I ran a voluntary service for the Homeless at Christmas over 30 years ago aided by my very willing Podiatry students from the Birmingham School and did 20 years service at the MacMillan hospice in Solihull that looked after my late father so well in his final days. I have worked in clinics along Chiropractors and Physiotherapists exchanging ideas, held MSK clinics in the Channel Islands sleeping on my yacht in the harbour!I enjoyed being part of the gait analysis revolution, marketing ‘Quintic’ to both Podiatrists and Sports clubs and still believe this system to be a world leader for the private practitioner.But now I am on the wind down working just a day and a half per week, my practice is currently for sale but not openly marketed if anyone is interested. I have had a great life and salary out of feet but it’s time to move on to pastures new :-)
