Providing training and support through both Assistant Control Engineer and Control Engineer authorisation processes.

Co-ordinating and planning releases and returns to service of sections of the England and Wales High Voltage Transmission System.Responding to emergency and fault situations on the network.Supervising Assistant Control Engineers during their daily activities.

A dynamic role based in National Grid's new purpose built Transmission Network Control Centre involving the day to day operation and configuration of the England and Wales Electricity Transmission System for the southern half of the country. Incorporating previous Assistant Safety Controller role as well as operational duties including management of reactive plant for voltage control purposes, co-ordinating the release and return of sections of the network to or from operational service and responding to high priority system alarms and emergency calls.

Responsible for control and co-ordination of high voltage safety precautions across the England and Wales Transmission System including liaison across control boundaries with power stations, local network providers and directly connected customers.

2 Year training role on National Grid's Engineer Training Program. This role involved undertaking in house training courses at the company training centre in Eakring, on the job training at the Network Operations Centre and successfully completing a foundation degree in Power System Management through Aston University.
