Working independently and as part of a team to provide technical support across multiple sites, responding to customer calls at all hours within agreed response times.The systems maintained comprised of many sensitive high power components including travelling wave tubes, electron tubes and solid state transmitters.Engineering support included carrying out the initial set-up, service, fault diagnosis and repair of electronic communications systems ensuring that all technical specifications were met before returning the system to the user.Equipment fault finding and repair was regularly carried out to component level. I was additionally employed as the local technical trainer, providing on-the-job training to new technicians and preparing apprentices for NVQ workshop assessments.

I worked as part of a team of engineers who installed high value complex radar systems globally. Field Service Engineering and engineering supervision was routinely provided in high hazard areas containing high voltages, stored energy and radio frequency radiation. I led a successful overhaul of a large radar array required for an urgent operational tasking which involved working extended unsociable hours. The radar team later received a Meritorious Service Award for their commitment to Operational Defence needs across the UK and abroad.It was essential in this position that I maintained excellent communication and interpersonal skills to articulate maintenance needs and operating restrictions to customers who were controlling aircraft.I completed the Field Service Engineers course for the Type 101 Radar at BAE Systems specialist training school and subsequently provided support across the UK and abroad.

Field based technical support was carried out on primary and secondary radars and associated generators, power distribution systems, EHT systems, antennas, receivers and signal processing systems.The engineering service provided included carrying out system initialisation, calibration, planned preventative maintenance, fault diagnosis and repair using a wide range of tools and test and measurement equipment. I also set up and carried out fault diagnosis and repair on data links, displays and voice communications equipment.
