Bringing the Allegro Connect Bulk Fill System from concept to production including: prototype conception, build and test (Siemens SIMATIC STEP 7), significant influence on automation and mechanical design decisions and authorship of the Automation Functional Specification.

Working alongside the Workshop and Biomedical departments to ensure the delivery of quality technical support and maintenance across the whole hospital, in both the infrastructure and medical equipment aspects. In this role I developed and instigated a web-based database (Django-Python) for managing the maintenance of hospital equipment and tracking of assets. This tool is a central repository for service schedules and maintenance logs for all equipment and required a complete hospital inventory.Other work included: advising management with regards to new projects and current issues (such as oxygen pipeline extension requirements), interviewing and writing test papers for workshop job applicants, conducting appraisals of workshop staff, organising the workshop, building a glass crusher, sourcing spares internationally, repair of minor equipment. This posting also required learning Nepali language.

Complete delivery of bespoke automation from concept to site acceptance, working both in small teams and individually. Role included job costing, prototype development, CAD modelling, control and HMI specification and programming, testing and interfacing with customers, alongside project management. Projects included turn-key and prototype machines for production, clean room and lab environments, each with differing legal and customer specific requirements effecting the mechanical design, software and documentation.Projects involved specification and integration of: SCARA robots (Staubli, Omron), servo motors and linear servo elements (Beckhoff, XTS), cameras (Sensopart, GigE), pneumatic systems (Festo, SMC), safety systems (PILZ), load cells, label printers (Zebra) and more.
