From 2009-12 I held a position on the local Strategic Governance & Delivery Board for ‘Right to Control’ a DWP pilot which operated in 7 areas of England. I was part of the Strategic Board that governed and scrutinised a the pilot in Manchester and three other local authorities in Greater Manchester.The Manchester Partnership Delivery Board was pivotal to the strategic development, financial planning and scrutiny and performance and risk management of the local pilot. RTC involved whole system change and approach to personal budgets. Transformational change within systems and culture were essential to support the delivery of the pilot. Public sector organisations pooling budgets and a cultural shift by staff to work in a co-productive and personalised way with service users – rather than as ‘passive recipients’ was key to the success of the pilot and where strategic leadership was key. I played a significant part in developing the transformational approaches and testing new ways of working across the partners and within individual organisations.

    As a lived experience panel member I am part of a small working group.Helping to shape and develop a project on Personal Health Budgets for North Central London Integrated Care Board.Drawing on my lived experience of a direct payment/individual budget.Working with colleagues in a person centred way following the values and principles of coproduction we developed a procurement person and directory service providersduties and skills included the analysis of policy documents relating relating to the procurement process hopping colleague to ensure they were commensurate with the values of coproduction. This involved attending online teams meetings on a monthly basis taking part in a market events to raise awareness amongst service providers in the area covered by north central London integrated care Board. This involved collaborating with colleagues fellow board to develop and deliver a presentation relating to our lived experiences of the health and social care system and the potential of the individual budget direct payments et cetera this and health and social care budgets to empower and enable those with long-term health conditions and disabilities and family members have a good quality of life.We also received support to develop an understanding of the NHS procurement process. I along with colleagues was responsible for the analysis of bids by service providers to be placed in the directory
