I'm a Mechanical Engineer with a vast array of experience and skills in research and engineering. I'm very driven and learn quickly.I'm working as a lecturer and researcher at the University of Sheffield in the School of Mechanical, Aerospace and Civil Engineering. I'm interested in transient dynamics of structures and dynamic material characterisation. I do a lot of work in blast and impact protection with a particular interest in protecting people and infrastructure when extreme events occur.My past experience of working in metallurgy sector gives me a unique understanding of the effects that underlying materials have on the overall response of larger structures.I'm a leading expert in applying non-contact measurement techniques such as Digital Image correlation in extreme environments such as blast and impact testing to produce very comprehensive information about materials and structures.As a Teacher, I'm passionately interested in how engineers learn and develop particularly through practical learning experiences during the course of their program. I teach into solid mechanics, FEA and materials.
