Profile bio

About Richard Cuthbert

I am a biodiversity conservation professional with over 25 years of experience of working and supporting projects in Africa, Asia, Australasia, and South and Central America, and with extensive knowledge and practical experience of the interface between conservation science and conservation actions, as well as the role of local communities and local organisations for long-term success. I am a conservation scientist by training and have wide-ranging experience of leading teams, directing complex programmes of work to tight deadlines, organisational leadership in remote and challenging areas, and capacity building for the growth and sustainability of local organisations. I have a strong interest in securing finance for nature-based solutions to fill the existing funding gap, with experience of the design and management of carbon projects to support biodiversity conservation. I take pride in leaving a practical and ongoing conservation legacy to all of the projects where I have had a long-term involvement: from bringing land into conservation protection, improving the knowledge and management of threatened species, and strengthening teams and organisations.

Listed skills include Research, Conservation Issues, Ecology, Leadership, and 30 others.
