During my career, I have managed geographically diverse support teams, delivered various large and small IT projects including network redesign, enterprise storage delivery, and IT system mergers following acquisitions and server virtualisation projects. When working for NHS Blood and Transplant my role was to develop and support Information Security strategies, manage security incidents and advise the organisation with regards to Information Security. In addition, I managed the technical network team and assisted in the delivery several IT projects. My current role as the Senior Manager IT Assurance for Computershare is a senior role within the global technology function which reports to the global head of IT Assurance and Compliance. The role is responsible for supporting the end to end IT governance and assurance model across the technology function. The function is responsible for risk, audit, compliance and assurance. This includes supporting and overseeing the development, implementation and monitoring of IT risk across Computershare’s IT Function in EMEA, to identify, assess and mitigate any risk that arises from inadequate or failed processes, people, systems, controls or external events, whilst maintaining the balance between risk mitigation and operational efficiency. A significant part of this role is to provide leadership and guidance to internal technical teams ensuring that we are operating effectively and according to policy. I have a very broad technical knowledge, both in technology and in information technology – acquired over the 2 decades of working in the industry. Part of my job function involves me providing subject matter expertise across our entire technology stack to internal and external customers. I am also one of the subject matter experts that on an adhoc basis provides technical training to non-technical managers. In order to be able to do this effectively requires significant on the job experience and training, as well as self-study and keeping up to date with industry best practiceIn addition to my IT Assurance role I have been appointed the CIO for Computershare Investor Services Ireland (CISIL). The role is responsible for providing an IT perspective at senior level, maintaining and improving Information Security across CISIL and ensuring the successful delivery of all technology projects. The role includes the PCF49 role under the Central Bank of Ireland regulation.
