I am Richard Dannah MA. I have been an outdoor performance sportswear designer for about Twenty years. I say 'about' because the bug for designing outdoor clothing was a lot longer than that.In that time, I have designed for the best and most proficient outdoor brands in the country, and climbed with some of the best climbers in the world. Working on their premium ranges to create more tailored garments. Working along side a London fashion designers to create a 3D anatomical model to shape garments directly with the body. During my time at equip, I was part of the reshaping of the Rab brand. Taking it from a small British manufacturing base, and expanding to the Far East. The garment range had to grow in order to compete with other top world wide brands, my expertise contributed, to this growth in the U.S and European markets. My job was to design and develop all the men’s.

Designed and made prototype samples and developed sales samples for the Technical Mountain sportswear brand. I Produced jackets like the Matrix Jacket which became a top seller. I oversaw & designed technical waterproof clothing, working closely with the Gore-tex company test team developing construction to improve performance in harsh environments.

I designed lifestyle and technical clothing for the outdoor industry; I liaised with china factories, and went out to see them. The clothing ranged from travel wear to climber jackets. At Sprayway I was the first designer to bring Primaloft to Europe and recognise its benefits, which is now becoming an industry standard for synthetic insulation.

I spent my time making patterns and designing waterproof and Non- waterproof clothing. I designed for all types of end user, from ice-climbing to running gear. I worked with buyers and garment technologists from colour dips to new developments.
