I started working in a steel stockholders at the age of 17 where I gained all my warehouse operatives skills of both physical and mentally. As I learned to use overhead cranes, counterbalance trucks and combi lifts. I also learned how to work within a team as well as being able to work alone and making decisions by using inicitive.After working in a warehouse for 4 years I gained my HGV Class 2 license and started to deliver the steel I once picked and loaded and distributed this around the whole of the UK and gained a lot of experience and geographical knowledge of the UK roads. Unfortunately this employment came to an end through redundancy as the company disbanded their whole fleet of trucks.I then started work at a company called Saria which required driving a HGV Class 2 truck and a lot of manual handling and labour as it was collecting food waste from various companies in and around Yorkshire. The food waste would be taken back to a plant and is recycled into gas and eventually electricity.After working at Saria for 2 years I achieved my Class 1 licence and started working for Maritime. At Maritime the job emtailed distributing general haulage around the UK on a 4 on 4 off rota on a night shift. After a year of working nights I moved onto a position on days working with curtain side and containers. A position in the office came up on nights which I took on as a new challenge where I was in charge of around 15/20 drivers making sure deliveries were kept in a timely manner. The role in the office was a lot of admin work of making sure the correct paperwork was scanned behind the right job. Also tracking MOT trailers and tractor units around the UK so nothing was on the road illegal. This was a challenging role but one I thoroughly enjoyed however I am unable to work nights now and I am searching for a career on days.
