The Harmony approach to education is ultimately about developing a new generation of leaders with the skills needed to work towards a more sustainable future – skills such as collaboration, communication and problem solving, among others. It aims to ensure that what is taught in schools – and how it is taught – constitutes an education that is fit for purpose in preparing our young people for the 21st century, not just to pass exams. The Harmony Project supports schools across the UK who are looking to develop their own Harmony curricula. This support includes workshops, staff training, events and the development and publication of materials to support curriculum development, teaching and learning.Chair of Students Organising for Sustainability (SOS-UK)SOS-UK is a new charity which seeks to harness the desire of students and young people to respond to the climate emergency. It builds on the groundbreaking work of NUS on social justice and sustainability. Through the work of SOS-UK, we aim to get more students leading on, and learning about, sustainability; to bring about a cross-disciplinary approach to education and to ensure issues of sustainability are inclusive. Education Leader My career in education spans three decades. Before joining the Sustainable Food Trust to lead The Harmony Project, I was the headteacher of an Ofsted-graded 'Outstanding' school, where I worked closely with staff, parents and children to develop a Harmony approach to curriculum development, which is now being applied in a range of other schools across the UK.
