Establishing architectural practices through HSQ ITS Delivery Office.

Regional eHealth Project is a joint venture between Cairns and Hinterland Hospital and Health Service and the Torres and Cape Hospital and Health Service to transform the Primary and Community Healthcare Centres from a paper based environment to a fully integrated electronic environment. The project involves the establishment of new patient registration and demographic management capability and full integration with Queensland Health integrated environment, including master patient index, pathology and radiology solutions- Lead an integrated team of architects and a business analyst comprising of Queensland Health and vendor staff to deliver a range of architectural artefacts from the conception of the project right through to the logical solution architecture.- Introduced a new methodology (Connect-Test-Debug) to build and test integrations in Queensland Health involving rapid co-located development and integration testing of all systems. This resulted in a number of connectathon sessions where participants from the vendor, System Integration Team, Clinical Support Teams and Health Support Queensland teams located within the same conference room and tested all integrations in real time within the same location. - Actively participated across the Business Advisory and Technical Advisory Groups and is also an ex-officio member of the Project Steering Committee, providing advice and guidance to the Chief Executives of both Hospital and Health Services as their role of project executives

The key responsibility of the role was to define the strategic architecture for managing information within Queensland Health- Responsible for providing the architecture to move Queensland Health from a centralised, application centric architecture to a devolved, information repository centric architecture decoupled from applications. - Amendment of all relevant policies, standards and protocols as well as contributing towards the Enterprise Architecture Health Service Directive. The Enterprise Architecture Health Service Directive is the binding agreement between the Hospital and Health Services and the Department of Health that enshrines the use of the Enterprise Architecture Framework and supporting documents as defined by the Strategy and Architecture Office- Engaged with the Hospital and Health Services throughout far north Queensland to assist them to move from a paper based healthcare delivery model to an electronic record healthcare delivery model. - Developed the strategy for moving to an electronic record and produced a roadmap that is currently being implemented. - Responsible for managing architectural components relating to integration with the national infrastructure. - Reviewed and provided input into national initiatives, strategies, implementation plans and national steering committees.- Played an active role in the review of the program architecture for the new Queensland Children’s Hospital including responsibility for reviewing all key architectural decisions made within the program and highlighting the key risks for the opening of the hospital in terms of patient information management.
