About Richard Eldredge

Richard L. Eldredge has been happily chronicling Atlanta since 1990. With over 30 years of experience and contacts, on August 24, 2015 he launched Eldredge ATL, his own hyperlocal digital magazine. Eldredge is also a contributing editor for Atlanta magazine, where he began his Atlanta reporting career in 1991.From 1993 to 2009, he wrote over 5,000 articles as a reporter at the Atlanta Journal-Constitution. In addition to writing the AJC's popular Peach Buzz column, he contributed to the paper's 1-A, Business, Metro, Sports, Travel and Sunday Arts section as well as serving a member of the AJC 1996 Centennial Olympics reporting team.From 2010 to 2015, he returned to Atlanta magazine where he helped to establish and grow the magazine's digital audience, producing daily content. and sharing that content across social media platforms. In 2020, he guest-edited the "Atlanta Pride at 50" print and digital issue of the magazine (and hosted three online Atlanta Pride talk backs with readers featuring Indigo Girls, trailblazing LGBTQ lawmakers and a Backstreet nightclub reunion). In 2022, he served as the magazine's Pride Guide editor.From 2011 to 2023, Eldredge also served as Senior Editor at VOX Teen Communications story coaching, editing and publishing hundreds of stories for the 30-year-old Atlanta youth development and teen media nonprofit. Each summer, he helped to create and facilitate the journalism curriculum for VOX Media Cafe, a popular six-week immersive journalism camp for metro teens.He researched and edited the 2001 Hill Street Press journalism collection, “Celestine Sibley Reporter.” In 2013, Eldredge co-authored “Sassafrass Jones and the Search for a Forever Home” with Cathleen Smith Bresciani, a children’s book with audio narrated by B-52’s frontman Fred Schneider. Out now via Ardmore Ave Publishing: “Bitch of the South” co-authored with Atlanta drag legend Charlie Brown. Author of the forthcoming “Pitman NJ’s Broadway Theatre: A Centennial Celebration.”
