Born in Bend, Oregon, Richard Whitehurst earned his undergraduate Bachelor of Arts in political science from the University of Portland in Portland, Oregon. After working as a strategic planning analyst in high technology, Richard was recruited to ING in 2001 as the head of strategic marketing and database marketing support for ING Americas USFS. During his time at ING, Richard went on to earn a MBA in technology management and business law. After resisting his true calling for many years, Richard purchased part-ownership in the design firm, ECO Design Studios, and then continued his education by earning his MFA in Interior Architecture and Design from the Academy of Art University in San Francisco. Presently, Richard lives in Western Oregon on a 60 acre ranch where he continues his design practice and consulting service. As of 2015, Richard was accepted . into the Master of Architecture program at the Academy of Art University in San Francisco, where he plans to spend his next four years earning his M-Arch degree and qualifications. Richard continues to operate his professional practice and manages his sixty-acre ranch and timber operation with his partner.
